The Shah dynasty, also known as the Shahs of Gorkha or the Royal House of Gorkha, was the ruling Gorkha state of the Chaubise Rajya and later King of Gorkha Prithvi Narayan Shah unified the Kingdom of Nepal. After the death of the Shabdrung king in 1904, a power vacuum formed and during this time Penlop Ugyen Wangchuk took administration control in November 1907, he was unanimously elected hereditary monarch by an assembly of the leading members of the clergy, officials, and aristocratic families...
