Watch live as a SpaceX Falcon Heavy launches the largest commercial communications satellite yet. Liftoff from pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center is scheduled for 11:04 p.m. EDT (0303 UTC) Friday night. Twin Falcon Heavy side boosters will return to Florida and land at Cape Canaveral seven and a half minutes after launch. The rocket is carrying the 9-metric-ton Jupiter 3/EchoStar 24 satellite which will expand reach of the HughesNet satellite internet service to nearly 80 percent of the population across the Americas. It features 300 spot beams to target coverage and has 500 Gbps of capacity. Commentary will be provided by Spaceflight Now's Will Robinson-Smith. @michaelthornsberry7929قبل 8 أشهر I'm always intrigued by watching these liftoffs: I'm 66 and I watched this and the past liftoffs'. I saw the challenger explode(SAD), and the launch of us going to the moon.

@jdogsfulقبل 9 أشهر so a minute and a half of vertical flight before it arcs to horizontal and then it become a digital simulation. cool. 2

@JeffRL1956قبل 9 أشهر Well, at least it cleared the pad so anything else that happens can't affect it being a success. So sayeth Elmo.

@Mister_Holdsworthقبل 9 أشهر These things are always absolutely great to watch. I wonder why the speed and height is counted in kms rather than mph seeing that's what America measures with normally. 1

@johnschaefer2238قبل 9 أشهر In light of what happened to the shuttle Challenger in 1986 isn’it unwise to launch any rocket at night. So much about what failed for Challenger was learned from that video. With this launch the spacecraft is all but hidden. I understand there is a launch window but wouldn’it be smarter to do so in daylight. I realize that telemetric data today is so much better than in 1986 but to rely on that alone troubles me. I was astonished in 1972 when Apollo 17 was launched at night thought NASA was taking a big chance then. ....وسعت

@JWSSpeedoقبل 9 أشهر Do rockets like this cause any pollution. I never hear about it being a problem like private jet travel.
