He was an absent id="hidden2" class="buttons"> uncle which he beats himself up for once they find his nephew's DNA and belonging in Peter Pan's car. That's what kicks him into gear to start looking. You can't say he's using the situation to be with V because he does it whether or not you help him and he literally dies trying if you don't. He learns to cook to impress V, sure, but I always thought that was really sweet. And he moves in with his sister in the end so that he can help and be more present in his niece and nephew's lives. That's not for V, it's because he's re-evaluated his life and made changes. He's the hottest romance option hands down and he turns his life around 180 after meeting V. I really like his romance arc. The only thing I don't like as some have already said in the comments is the lack of ability to really just say you're not interested if you're not. ....وسعت 177

River clearly cares about his family. id="hidden4" class="buttons"> Horrific events in the family have distanced them, but he comes running when Joss needs him. If V refuses to help, River risks his life and goes to save Randy on his own. After finding Randy, he doesn’t get together with V until after squaring things away with his family. Also, though River isn’t a wealthy man, he purchased the trailer for Joss. He plays games with his niece and nephew and asks V to go easy on them because it’s their favorite game. Joss later thanks V for bringing her brother back.
I saw River as a mature romance option for a V who is not interested in “rizz.” He’s straightforward about his feelings with V- especially if you don’t deliberately choose the worst responses to his flirting attempts- and that’s wildly attractive. He opens up with V about what happened with his parents and Joss tells V that’s something he wouldn’t do unless he cared. A man may know other men, but a man’s sister will give you the real story. I have brothers and I will rat them out.
The romance is actually quite sweet. The developers do drop the ball after the romance is locked in, but they tried to bolster the romance with text messages in later updates. And honestly, if Panam’s toddler like tantrums don’t bother you, I don’t see how you can have a problem with River. ....وسعت 56

I do like having a romance option who promises a modest life outside the city. id="hidden7" class="buttons"> His home felt like something I needed once all the craziness in Nightcity is behind [V] but the way he got into her life and how he kept V attached just felt so forced. As cool as a guy he could've been, Cyberpunk 2077's rushed state and lack of companion-centric gameplay really left no room to give River any room to be impressive. At least Panam, Judy, and Kerry have their moments but River here is always the one needing you to pick up their slack. If they gave more gigs where neither V nor River is personally attached to just explore each other's psyche better, that would've made their bond feel more natural. But then id="hidden9" class="buttons"> most of the interactions in the game are a 'little off' because they have to happen in a very linear 'because that's how the story goes' kind of way. River seems like a very normal, not-smooth guy making a very straight-forward attempt to create a relationship. He followed exactly the same course of action with Male V, and he certainly wasn't trying to get into Male V's pants. The fact that it seems forced is because the game is constantly forcing stuff on you without regard to time passing in the game world. In fact the whole timeline of the game is something you have to work to ignore.V is dying yet has seemingly unlimited time to pursue side quests and generally be a merc-about-town.
The other 'romances'? Kerry was more of an impulsive hookup than a romance. Panam's struggles with self-doubt she tries to overcome with rebellion and harebrained schemes completely overshadow the relationship she seems to form with V. Maybe it's my Boomer age showing, but I don't equate text exchanges with romance either. ....وسعت 59

@MCPunk55العام الماضي I've done his quest thrice. Never saw the manipulation or guilt trip. Just a dude a bit out of touch. It feels more like the romance was added last id="hidden16" class="buttons"> minute and a few things were neglected. Especially considering Panam's files show she was supposed to support a female V romance. So probably they dropped that for a male option for straight female V for a bit more balance, and used an existing character instead of creating an entirely new one. Remember this game came out long before it was properly finished and ironed out. That's why River may come off as a Psychopath if you play as female V. But the original point of the quest was friendship, not fornication. Besides, he's written as a damaged man. His partner shut himself off, his parents were murdered, works for a corrupt police department. his entire character arc makes sense. It's very well written, even if the romance feels rushed. I personally installed the mod to make Panam swing both ways but Judy's probably still my favorite. Though in my very first playthrough, I ended up having a one-night stand with a milf dressed as a dominatrix. Can't remember how I got that. I just remember having that quest in my log and having a futanari V with the Nomad background. ....وسعت 53

River is a bad romance option not because he was supposed to be a bad option, but I think the devs just tossed him in for female V and didnt id="hidden17" class="buttons"> know how to write male romance, and didnt allocate enough time to making it make sanse, so he ended up being bad as a consequence of poor writing. considering how few romance options the game has, it does not really make sense to make one of them intentionally this bad. especially when all female options are so increadibly good characters. To be fair, I id="hidden20" class="buttons"> also quite enjoy River as a character and loved the buddy-cop vibe it brought during his quests. He seems like a man who just wants to do right by the world, an idealist to the fault.
I also highly encourage to check out how he reacts when you try to kiss him as male V. One of the funniest interactions I've seen in a while and probably one of the more lighthearted rejections that don't feel too awkward. ....وسعت

In the final mission with Panam I asked him to leave with me and he refused and that id="hidden31" class="buttons"> turned me off. I stopped liking him after that. In my second play through I rejected every flirty line he said to me. Thinking of those texts he sent to V on phone yeah he sure is manipulative and only needs V when he needs help. @69dmقبل 6 أشهر I've never played female V, but if I had I would've said that River is ultimately the only good romance option that is available in the id="hidden33" class="buttons"> game. Even though he's narrow-minded toneless cop who acts like an NPC, he's the only person that actually tries to impress V. All other characters just suck. Panam's constantly friend-zoning V, making him look no better than River here. Judy acts like some spoiled princess, expecting from you to take over the Clouds to help HER friends, and after you do it, she will delete and block you from contacts if you decided to hand the club to Maiko (which is the best possible outcome). Don't bother with gratitude, Judy. And Kerry - is just Kerry, no need to explain. At least Kerry is the only character who shows a willingness to help and continue relationship after Phantom Liberty.
