@TwoHappyChildrenFarm10 months agoThis setup looks similar to 2022 in Central Texas with a few inches here and there before tassle. After tassle the corn was not too healthy and short so any stress after that canceled the rains.

@microsoilenhancersinspirey575010 months agoI remember how dry it was in 1988, and I understand why it’s been that long since the ratings were that low. 1988 and 1993 were the 2 driest times I can remember here. Great show again joe. Thank you! Shalom!.. ...4

@FarmJim188510 months agoMy opinion apparently the big Brazilian corn wasn’t all priced so the commercial grain are trying to hold prices in check because they need it to import for our deficit. 3

@iansagen10 months agoI dont understand why markets react to "forecasted projected rain" wouldn'it be more sensible to make the market react to rain totals that actually materialize and that fell. I mean it's not like the weather man or these models are wronge 90% of the time. Ridiculous ...10

@darrellwilliams599510 months agoI think the markets are actually going down because of the projected reports, ones that reflect yields for the year, usage and other crap, they're taking protection, damage that has already been done, we've been in a drought for years, I'm also a contractor and I dig down tremendously deep, and there is no moisture in the dirt, you dig up to 20 ft deep, it is just as wet as the top and it's Dusty, we've had at least 8 in of rain in a very small window, so if you want to see what 8in looks like, look at a few plugged intakes and the river, we're back to Dusty gravel roads, and I plan on spraying tomorrow two days after a hard rain, and things still look sick, I think our beans picked up a disease that they can't get past and they are not producing, but my weeds are growing, this is my second spray. ...

@stevegarrett345010 months agoI just drove thru Michigan, corn looked bad and soybeans looked even worse. It was supposed to rain 1.65 and it rained .35 at our location. 1

@ttanne783810 months agoMy opinion : Corn continues to be priced as a low cost fuel source. Not as a feed or a food. 2

@LtColDaddy7110 months agoPeople don’t realize, even when their is no drought, you can still be short moisture at key phases of plant development. Those are one week windows. On the flip side, a crop needs far less moisture than you would think the rest of the time. You have to be a pretty good craps player as a farmer, have bets spread all over the table. Varieties, maturities, planting dates, application and seeding rates. This is not a game for stupid people. One advantage of the green side, is your variations are 20-40 bushels on corn, and 5-15 on soybeans. You never really knock it out of the park, and, you’ll get some fields that fail. But if you know what your doing, and not blowing all your money on snake oil and greased lightening, you have so much less invested in an organic no till cover croped crop. As it was pointed out to me yesterday at the coffee shop, I “never have to worry so much about rain because my crops always suck.” True and not true all at the same time. I’ve netted an inch the past few days. It can’t hurt. I’m half way across the top 1/3 of Illinois ...1
